WHATS NEW?

In January, 2024, the Fire District Board of Trustees decided to expand the department with the approval to hire four additional full-time sworn firefighters to the Bensenville roster. This is the first time in the history of the organization where we are increasing the full-time staffing of our department. Currently we have 21 full-time sworn firefighters and two administrative staff. The full-time staffing will increase to 25 full-time members allowing each of the three shifts to increase from seven to eight members daily with a floating position to fill when members are on extended leave. Our organization is also supplemented daily with part-time paramedics to achieve a total of ten personnel daily. The Board of Trustees have wanted to hire for years and after being denied the Federal SAFER grant two years in a row, they decided to move forward and hire four sworn personnel for the safety of its members and to better serve the community while being fiscally responsible to our budget.
